Job Market Tracker Report 2022 Fourth Quarter

Registered nurses remain most in demand with median salary of $135,600

The Sonoma County Economic Development Board released the 2022 Fourth Quarter Sonoma County Job Market Tracker report. The report captures data on current job opportunities and desired skills from job postings in Sonoma County. The report also breaks down most in demand jobs and median salaries of job postings.

Sonoma County’s unemployment rate at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022 remained at 2.5%, same as the previous quarter. This is about one percentage point and a half below the State of California’s unemployment rate at 4.1% and one percentage point below the United States’ unemployment rate at 3.5%.

The fourth quarter of 2022, Sonoma County saw 15,769 unique job postings, 1,018 less than the previous quarter. The largest volume of job postings came from the health care and social assistance industry at 2,343 unique job postings, followed by the administrative and support and waste management industry with 1,921 unique postings. Other top industries included retail trade, manufacturing, and accommodation and food services.

Top posted occupation for the fourth quarter was registered nurses with 1,295 unique postings, 97% full time positions, and an advertised average median salary of $135,600. This was followed by retail salesperson with 661 unique job postings, 71% full time positions, and an advertised average median salary of $34,700. Third most posted occupation was for home health and personal care aides with 500 unique postings, 22% full time positions, and an advertised median salary of $29,900.
